I've just got my mitts on Colin White's "Nelson: The New Letters" which contains 507 previously unpublished letters. However, in the introduction, he mentions that, at the time of printing, around 1300 letters were found during the 'Nelson Letters Project'. Does anyone know if there are any plans to publish the remainder? And is the project still ongoing?

(well, it has been a while since I posted relating to my obsession over Nelson's own words... and I need more  )

Vicki:

I remember reading - I think in 'History Today' - that Colin White, before his untimely death, was continuing to assemble even more Nelson letters after the publication of The New Letters. I found this link to a piece by him (Item 7 in the 2006 list) about the continuing project. Unfortunately, I can't seem to open the article but at least it's a lead.

I was able to open the article at http://www.1805club.org/uploads/TC2006White.pdf.
Maybe it is your version of Adobe?

Anna and Chas,

Thanks for posting that. It is good to know that the letters project that Colin White started is ongoing, and that research is continuing into further unpublished letters – seemingly under his direction!

His articles were always a delight to read. Naturally this has a hint of sadness, in that he is no longer with us and is thus unable to finish what he began. However, I am sure we all look forward to a further volume of letters being published.

Thanks Anna :) It would be such a shame if the project were to die out.
