 Post subject: Royal Review of the Fleet 1773

It looks as though Nelson just missed being present at the King's review of the fleet at Spithead 22-25 June 1773. The Triumph, Captain Maurice Suckling, was present, but Nelson had just transferred to the Carcass for his voyage to the Arctic.

I am looking for accounts of this review of the fleet. I do have Beatson, and also an account in the 'Life and times of Sir Joshua Reynolds' (who had been invited on board the Ocean), but if anyone knows of any other accounts I would be most interested.

Many thanks for the link, PhiloN. That's obviously Beatson's source. It seems to have been a very thorough review. What a lot of gunpowder was expended!
