I was surprised to read in the latest edition of 'The Nelson Dispatch' (Oct 2013), in a book review of 'A History of The Hoste and its association with Admiral Lord Nelson and Captain Sir William Hoste' by Mark Nicholls, the book claims that Nelson's "farewell to the beach" party was held in Burnham Market at 'The Hoste' formerly known as The Plough! Until now I'd only ever read* that the farewell party/dinner/supper was held at The Plough (now 'The Lord Nelson') in Burnham Thorpe) and gave rise to the well recounted 'Valiant High' story. Were there two farewell parties or is one of the locations making false claims?

I think you're right! The Lord Nelson in Burnham Thorpe was originally The Plough, and the Hoste Arms in Burnham Market was originally known known as the Pitt Arms.
