Hello knowledgable forum;
Around 1800 how 'serious' was the smuggling of French goods into Britain in general?
And was the 'clergy' involved as depicted, quite alot in this?
I should imagine France was pretty much self sufficient or was it?
Did Napoleon 'borrow' money from English bankers to invade England!

David.

Hi David:

we had a long discussion years ago about smuggling. I've unearthed it from the 'bowels of the ship':

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=476&p=2703&hilit=smuggling#p2703

I'm sure someone else can answer the banking question.

Thanks Anna lot there to delve into.
Yes the banking question is somewhat more 'tricky'.

David :wink:
