For those members who may be taking a holiday in Crete this August, I thought they may be interested in a Nelson exhibition taking place at the Nautical Museum in Chania between 27 July and 31 August. I saw this advertised when we visited the town on holiday last week.

Unfortunately we didn't have time to visit the museum itself but from details on the internet/trip advisor, it appears the museum is well worth a visit in it's own right. It is situated near the Venetian harbour entrance.

Thanks, Phil!

I do hope someone will make it to Crete and report on this tempting exhibition.

It is more than 40 years since I visited Crete but I have instant recall of the Venetian harbour entrance - and of the warm welcome we received. Memories of WW2 were still vivid and we received handshakes from many elderly people who remembered the heroic attempts of British and Allied troops to defend Crete from a ferocious German onslaught.
