An interesting Trafalgar medal is for sale: http://tinyurl.com/gktdp24 I note that the recipient of the medal spells his name 'Perceval' - an unusual spelling, the same as that of Spencer Perceval, the only British Prime Minister to have been assassinated. Were they related? |

Anna Another interesting article. I don't recall coming across this gentlemans story before. George James Perceval was related to the prime minister, Spencer Perceval being his uncle. The ' Algiers ' bar to this naval general service medal relates to his command of HMS Infernal, a bomb ship, at the Bombardment of Algiers in 1816. Phil |

I don't know who got this so hopelessly wrong. The auctioneer or the journalist. Mr Perry added: "The Matthew Boulton medal was introduced in 1848 after Queen Victoria came to the throne. She realised there was no recognition of the naval battles during the Napoleonic period. What??!! |
