I have just come across a new Nelson book written by Martyn Downer, the author of Nelson's Purse'. This new title 'Nelson's Lost Jewel' is the story of the lost diamond chelengk. Published by The History Press in early October.

One for the Christmas wish list I think.

Many thanks for the heads up on this, Phil. The postman has just delivered my copy.

I wasn't aware of this book so thanks for sharing Phil. One for the Christmas wish list indeed.

More on the lost jewel here - with some interesting stuff about the making of an exact copy from a newly-discovered watercolour of the original at the College of Arms.

This is actually a very fine book and there is a lot more to it than it might seem from a glance at the cover. Mr Downer has put a lot of research into this and desrves success. I think of it as a companion to his book on Nelson's purse, but with a exotic, Ottoman twist.
