Hi
Mira mentioned that it would be good to add some images.

Image

Here's a quick 'how to' I hope it doesn't sound too complicated, the whole process is much easier to actually do than to describe.

One important thing to bear in mind is that you need to have the images stored online - images, photos &c. that are on you pc / mac / laptop will have to be copied to 'web space' before they can be viewed on the forum.

Many Internet providers supply you with a moderate amount of space when you sign up with them. This is the first port of call - check to see if you have space - and browse your providers FAQs to find out how to add or upload your images.

If you have no web space - don't panic. There are plenty of companies that give you space for photos etc for free.

Just google 'Free Image Hosting' and select whichever takes your fancy.
These sites are generally very easy to use.

Once you have 'uploaded' your image, you will need to discover it's location.

This will be an 'address' such as 'http://www.myonlinespace/mypicturefolder/myimage.jpg'

Most image hosts clearly show you this information when you view the pictures that you have uploaded.

Highlight and copy this location - you will need to add this to your post.

The location of the Victory photograph for example is
'http://www.mikespix.co.uk/public/victory_small_031.jpg'

BEFORE you paste your image location into the midst of your missive, you must press the '[IMG]' button at the top of the post screen to 'tell' the page to expect an picture.
AFTER you have pasted the location, press the '[img]'%20button%20again%20this%20will%20add%20a[/img] tag to the end of the address - this describes the end of the image.
On screen it should look something like the line below (without the spaces)

[img ]http://www.mikespix.co.uk/public/victory_small_031.jpg[ /img]

If you wish to add another image press the '[IMG]' button again, paste the address of the next image, press the [IMG] button - repeat

Summary:

Upload picture
Copy picture location/ address
Type your post
Press [IMG] button, imediately paste address, immediately press [IMG] button again
repeat for any other images you need to add
Preview
Post

Sorry my first post is so dull, I will have to return to the forum with something more interesting to add.

Mike

Swiftsure:

Many thanks for those details. I really have no excuse now.

I will absorb them and hope to post images on the Portraits thread in due course.
