Welcome to the forum, Collingwood 2010, and many thanks for that interesting link.

I was interested to hear of the planned memorial in the form of a wave which sounds original and appropriate - I wonder if there are any artist's draft sketches available? Projects like this are often contentious and provoke 'lively debate' such as the reaction to the planned sculpture honouring Brunel at Rotherhithe:

My understanding is that it will be a modern design along similar lines to:-

With an image of Collingwood possibly in the cross section, still a long way off with plenty of fundraising to do but fingers crossed it will become a reallity.

You are quite right though, any modern design is bound to stimulate heated discussion, I fear I am rather traditional in my tastes but anything that will help to raise awareness of Collingwood has to be a plus!
