This is just to say welcome to the forum Mark. It's an enormous pleasure to say that - and I'm sure many, many members and readers will be glad to see you here too.

Yes, welcome indeed, Mark! I was so busy putting you to productive labour as Lord Nelson's hatter, I completely forgot to say how pleased we are to have you with us - and I know that at least one other forum member will now read my 'Poetry; you have been warned' thread.

Folks

Thank you for the kind messages.

I have been looking in on the forum regularly although not actively participating.

Firstly congratulations to Anna, the moderators and participants for making this forum:
Informative
Educational
Entertaining
Challenging at times
but always a comfortable place to visit.

If the whole of the internet could follow the same ethos what a tool it could be for the betterment of mankind.

I haven't been idle!!

Just recently I have been doing some research on the Nelson statue in the Bull Ring in Birmingham. It was the first statue of Nelson in the U.K., unveiled on October 25 1809 - so as you see it celebrates it's own bi-centenary in 2009.

Somewhere down the line I will start a separate thread to keep people notified of the activities being planned. Having been at the centre of Birmingham's shopping area for all this time "he" has a special place in the hearts of many Brummies.

Meanwhile I have a little something to add to the Christmas thread. Later this evening if time allows.

Ciao
