This is "slightly old" news but I thought it was still worth reporting.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/mandrake/4332412/Hayley-Atwell-figures-in-plans-for-Lord-Nelson-film.html

These projects quite often come to naught - but it will be one to check up on from time to time.

I remember a few years ago there was supposed to be musical about Nelson's life on the London stage. It was funded by the guy who made his fortune from the B & Q stores. I think Sandi Toksvig's sister Jenifer was quite heavily involved.

But it just seemed to disappear off the radar :?

I wonder if this is the same film we discussed on the 'New Nelson and Emma Film' thread on page 3? Julian Fellowes was supposed to write the screenplay for that - he did 'Gosford Park' which was good, despite or two odd verbal anachronisms like, 'Goes with the territory'. I particularly liked the comment by an old-fashioned, uptight Englishman to his poor wife who was sobbing copiously because someone had been murdered:' For heaven's sake! Anyone would think you were Italian!'

I found this link on the Kate Williams website.

"ENGLAND'S MISTRESS
A 3 x 1 hour series, adapted from the book by Kate Williams. Screenplay being written by Sarah Williams. Emma Hamilton was England's first superstar. She fought her way out of poverty to become a fashion icon, an Ambassador's wife, a confidante of both Queen Marie Antoinette and the Queen of Naples, and the mistress of Lord Nelson, England's greatest military hero."

Welcome to the forum!

Is there any indication when the series will be screened? The economic gloom is causing a lot of TV drama to be 'pulled'. Maybe Emma will be a victim!

Anna,

Might be worth watching, with tongue perhaps slightly in cheek, whenever it comes out. To digress slightly, I managed to watch a couple of episodes of Sharpe, now showing over here, and which they also advertise. I thought they were quite good, although I think I've only ever read one of the books.
