And amazing to think that the last survivor of the battle of Trafalgar (TraffleGAR) was still alive when Henry was born! He was Pedro Martinez of the San Juan Nepomuceno who died in 1898, when Henry was two years old.

Were you aware that Henry had a 111th birthday celebration on H.M.S. Victory (2007)??

Unfortunately it's quite poor quality - but there is some video footage here.

As a wag said to me some while back - "I plan on living to 100 . . . . . . . . . so far so good!!" :D

Right: if I get a party in Victory, I'm going to live to 111 too.

Ok Tycho, but Henry Allingham has had it easy - he has been relaxing in retirement for 53 years.

What about Provo Wallis? Born 1781, entered the navy in 1795, made Admiral of the Fleet in 1877 and died in 1882. Since Admirals of the Fleet never retire, Wallis was still working at the age of 101!

Beat that!
