A forum member has drawn my attention to this book:

'Merchants, Medicine and Trafalgar' by Richard Morris OBE, a history of the Harvey family, which includes Sir Eliab Harvey who commanded the Temeraire at Trafalgar. (The Alderton Press). Harvey was an eccentric character, with a ferocious temper, and with a reputation for gaming and general wildness.

Richard Morris's researches 'shed new light on Admiral Harvey's behaviour both as a hero at Trafalgar and in his domestic life.'

I was interested to learn that one of his ancestors was William Harvey, discoverer of the circulation of the blood.
