The Nelson Society website, having been rather quiet, is now looking more lively, with news of a Battle of Cape St Vincent event scheduled for February and also details of the AGM later in the year. Have a look, and, if possible, make some contributions in support of those who maintain the website.

Anna,

Thanks for that. Nice revamp to the site, since I haven't looked in for some time, although the forum doesn't seem to have changed much. The details of the AGM are actually for 2009, but I have have an idea (via a Christmas card and to be confirmed!) that Newcastle may be the venue this year.

Glad to see this site is at the top of the links! :D

Oops! Sorry about the mis-information re: the AGM. I'm sober, honest; just keep mislaying my reading glasses.

Sorry, Stephen - I've only just seen your post. Yes, I noticed you'd had no replies - but at least you posted - that's what I meant by 'looked livelier'! Perhaps I ought to mention the Collingwood Exhibition there? And maybe news of Jack Tar. Even if we just talk to each other, it will make the website more vigorous.

Lucky you to be in sunny Malta (I assume that's what you mean by 'amazing'!) Most of the UK had had snow except for us down yer in Zummerset - we've just got heavy rain, dank, lowering clouds and spiteful winds.

Anna,
You may be interested to know that the 1805 Club are organizing a series of events for the weekend of the 6-7th March in relation to the death of Admiral Lord Collingwood. The Club is working closely with the Royal Navy, Trinity House Newcastle, and Newcastle City Council and Tyneside & Wear Council. As Im sure you will know Collingwood died on the 7th March 1810.

:)
