I am really and TRULY on the last lap with the anthology but had to include a broadsheet ballad I came across recently held by the National Library of Scotland.

I was puzzled by a reference to a British ship at Trafalgar that I had never heard of - the 'Demerara'.

Having exercised those Holmesian powers of deduction and that coruscating insight for which I am renowned, I can now reveal that the ship was - the 'Temeraire'. (I think.)

Oh, and Admiral Villeneuve is 'Valenier'.

By Jove, Holmes! I was just about to start a thread on ships' nicknames to parallel the officers' nicknames thread.

We already have Billy Ruffian with us, of course.

Here are a few more, famous and not so famous:

Eggs and Bacon
Pol Famous
Bonny Pheasant
Andrew Mack
Spartang
