Post subject:  Celebrate 200th anniversary of Battle of Lissa, Vis island

Join us in celebrating Nelson's protege, Capt Sir Wm Hoste's vanquishing of the old enemy in 1811 for 7 day holiday from 14th May.

With his squadron of only four ships (124 guns) to Dubourdieu’s 7 ships (276 guns) Hoste inspired his men by hoisting the signal ‘Remember Nelson’ as he closed with the enemy!

For this special anniversary we have joined with the final visit of the World War Two veterans to Vis island which will be attended by the British Ambassador to Croatia and senior serving officers from both the UK and Croatian MoDs plus escort party.

The events we have laid on include:
* three exhibitions of pictures and memorabilia relating to:
1. & 2. the British campaigns in the Adriatic 1807 to 1815 and 1943 to 1945 - which will include some personal material lent by descendants of Hoste and the veterans; and
3. the current campaign in Afghanistan,
* three lectures , with the veterans and one of Tito's partisans answering questions about their experiences, as will a serving colonel in the Royal Marines about Afghanistan;
* receptions hosted by the British Ambassador, et al.

We have arranged a package of accommodation, transfers & activities which, with flights from Gatwick or Stansted, start from about £425 pp for 7 days from 14th May.

For those you don't know, Vis is a beautiful, unspoilt island with no mass tourism, excellent restaurants and wine and with lots of interesting things to do and see.
