The article states that the Naval General Service Medal with Trafalgar clasp was awarded to James Sharman.

Thanks for the heads-up on this one. A little out of my league so shan't be bidding but it will be interesting to see what it makes. In these uncertain times, treasures like this attract speculators merely anxious to find a haven for their cash as well as genuine enthusiasts, thrilled by the associations around the medal itself. This certainly has an outstanding history - and how wonderful to see a photograph of the recipient as well as having biographical details. When you look at that fierce stare and reflect what those eyes have seen.........

Can someone keep an eye on the auction and report the hammer price? I am still very preoccupied with family matters and regret I can't do much for the website at the moment.

Anna,

I hope this will help. I have copied a link to the item on the Peter Wilson auction website. They give a little more information about James Sharman. :D

Many thanks for the update. I was inspired to write a poem (strictly for my private journal!) about the wonderful photograph of Sharman.

It was also good to know that Nelson letters are up by 16%+ - but I would have to be utterly destitute before I'd part with mine!
