Please post details of any books, websites or other search tools that you think might be helpful to researchers. A booklet published by the Federation of Family History Societies: Nelson's Navy 1793-1815 (ISBN 1 86006 200  by Keith Gregson gives very useful details of websites and archives. It costs £3.95 and can be obtained from the on-line bookshop www.genfair.com

Here's an excellent book to while away winter evenings, especially if one has connections with this form of Naval activity. Smuggling in the British Isles, A History, By Richard Platt His web site Smugglers Britain is full of interest and you can order the book too. Shiver me Timbers!!
