Update: a fundraising campaign has been launched to ensure that the flag is restored so that it can be put on permanent display in Norwich.

Is there anything in Nelson's correspondence about the captured flag?I know he was elated when the Genereux was finally taken but don't recall reading about the donaton to Norwich.

The flag was presented to Norwich by Sir Edward Berry, Nelson's flag captain at the time of the capture. Although a Londoner by birth, like Nelson, Berry went to Norwich School where his uncle was headmaster. Berry always considered himself a Nofolk man by adoption.
