Nelson & His World

I received this image of Nelson via Google Alerts. Does anyone recognise the location?

P.S. Having looked more closely at the plaque on the base of the statue, I think I can make out 'Erected by the Governor of Gibraltar....'

So I presume South [B]astion is in Gib? Can any resident sea dog add more?

PPS - There's also a very clear dated note alongside the pic saying that it was taken in Gibraltar. Doh. Sorry. Off for an eye test.

The statue is in Gibraltar. It is opposite the Trafalgar Cemetry -where a handfull of Victory's dead are buried - at the top of Main Street. I believe it was erected for the bi-centenary. It is a lovely quiet spot away from the busy shopping area on Main Street.
