, that today is St. George's Day! I also imagined that it isn't celebrated as it as once was, but having googled around there seem to be quite a few celebrations taking place! Perhaps its just that, in true British style, not a big fuss is made!
I came across this website promoting the Day and calling for it to be made a public holiday (slim chance there, I think!). It puts me in mind of another day, in October, which many – including all on this site I would imagine – would like to see as a public holiday (probably a slim chance there as well!)
Turn up the sound and you'll hear a rendition of Henry V's speech before Agincourt, delivered with gusto and seemingly in a small room, but to my mind not quite á la Laurence Olivier, or Kenneth Branagh!:
