Stephen,
I think its very hard to avoid it anywhere! Lotta and I have just returned from Gothenburg and the festivities for the Saumarez plaque replacement (which went off very well by the way and of which I shall write more in a report - when I have recovered somewhat!) where the 'fever' has seemingly also taken hold!
We had an extra day there, Wednesday, and took it rather easier visiting a couple of museums , having an easy lunch, etc. Anyway, whilst having tea before travelling home, we kept hearing a lot of cheering and much roudiness from a bar across the street. We thought it must be students trying to spin out their recent graduation, but no, it turned out that it was from a group of Chilean football supporters who had apparently won their game - perhaps not surprisingly we didn't find out who the other team were (not that we are that interested!)
