The National Museum of the Royal Navy is preparing for the centenary celebrations of the opening of the Dockyard Museum in June 1911, and the figurehead of HMS Trafalgar in Victory Arena has had a makeover from Figurehead Historian, Richard Hunter, who has been bringing the bust of Lord Nelson back to its former glory: http://www.historicdockyard.co.uk/news/news360.php

The erased eye may be true to how the figurehead was originally painted, but surely it's wrong to say it is 'historically accurate'?

I think you're right Tony. It might be accurate as to the original figurehead – but surely Nelson lost the sight of his eye, not the eye itself.
