It's not quite old enough to be in our period, but I am sure this will be of interest all the same!

The National Museum of the Royal Navy has been given a 111 year old Christmas pudding that was sent to the Naval Brigade during the Boer War. It is no less than a “Peek, Frean & Co’s Teetotal Plum Pudding - LONDON, High Class Ingredients Only”

Full story of the Christmas pudding and Aggie Weston, 'Mother of the Navy', plus a photo here: http://www.historicdockyard.co.uk/news/news398.php
