Today is St Valentine's Day and the anniversary of Nelson's great exploit at the battle of Cape St Vincent.
I was surfing idly and came across these teaching notes for use in American schools. How interesting that so much teaching time is devoted to a hero of a foreign power.
http://www.mainlesson.com/display.php?a ... ry=vincentThere seems to be a greater emphasis on Nelson and maritime history in schools here too: a legacy of Trafalgar 200 as much as Mr Gove's revised history curriculum perhaps?
As a matter of interest, have we any members from Canada, New Zealand or Australia who can tell us whether Nelson appears on their school curriculums - or curricula to be pedantic?
