Here's an interesting link, in the light of the current focus on vaccines, to a letter Nelson wrote to Emma regarding having Horatia vaccinated against smallpox.

The article says the letter is 'newly discovered'; I don't think so - it is available in numerous publicly-available sources.

Admiral Lord Nelson's tacit support for vaccination has been revealed in a letter found at Royal Museums Greenwich. In the letter, Nelson encourages his lover Emma Hamilton to consider 'inoculating' their six-month-old daughter Horatia against smallpox.
