Forum members cannot have failed to notice that we have been inundated with Spam, some of it very unsavoury, for which I apologise. Most of it has now been removed and steps are being taken to devise a registration process to outwit the ingenuity of the Spammers. For this, I have to thank Tony, whose expertise has been invaluable.

Since he is a direct descendant of Captain Mansfield of the Minotaur who fought at Trafalgar, I thought I would express my thanks to both these heroes in (doggerel) verse!

 A TALE OF TWO MANSFIELDS

Two hundred years have passed since brave Mansfield sailed the main
In the 'Minotaur' to scatter Britain's foes.
His words were short and pithy as he steered into the fight:
'Lay 'em close; and save your shot for certain blows.'

Without bluster or bravado or a flourishing of swords
He honoured, in his calm, determined way,
Both in letter and in spirit, the stern call to duty made
In the signal gallant Nelson flew that day.

And now his heir proves worthy of the standard that he set
As he seeks to sink each knave and scurvy lout
Who would board the good ship 'Nelson' and demand her for their own:
For it's Mansfield's lad that's put them all to rout.

He has cunning plans a-plenty and a mind as sharp as knives
To foil and spoil each Spammer's loathsome plan.
He's cut right through their line and has turned his powerful fire
On the varmints. And they've struck - Yes! Every man!

A sword I cannot offer, nor a statue in St Paul's
Nor the gun salute his skill and zeal deserved.
But my heartfelt thanks I give him. We sail on with hope undimmed
That our craft from slimy Spammers he's preserved!
