Just to wish a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year, 2010, to all members!

Over here in Sweden it's only a balmy -4° at the moment, with a pale sunshine (up north its rather colder -16/17°), but everything has a fine coating of ice, like icing sugar, very attractive. This is actually the first winter in a long time we've had snow in Stockholm at Christmas time. It's usually grey, wet, windy, etc.

And a Happy New Year from me, too, to you Kester, and all members.

When I lived abroad, I missed the sound of English church bells ringing in the new year. It was lovely to stand at the front door at midnight last night - a cold, starlit night - and hear the sound of the bells from the village church coming over the fields.

I tried to post a link to a 'you tube' recording of church bells without success. Just Google 'you tube church bells' and scroll down to 'Folkestone St Mary's' to hear the familiar sound.
