A brooch said to contain a lock of Captain Hardy's hair is up for auction soon.

Oh dear - here I go again!!

Items worthy of note.

1. By 1815 TH was of course Sir Thomas Hardy.

2. The Commissioned officers list shows a Thomas Hardy who died in 1815. (Since hair is almost indestructible it was quite often included in items of memorabilia when a person died.) His rank in 1815 is given as SUP. CR. which I believe may have allowed him to use the title Captain. If I am wrong on that I am sure someone will put me straight.

As usual - don't let me put anyone else off.

But once again my hard-earned cash will be staying in my pocket!!
