A poster commemorating Trafalgar was expected to fetch £40,000+ at auction, but failed to sell.

I bought a modern copy at the Nelson Museum in Monmouth for about £1, I recall.

That's quite funny.

The Scotsman quotes the auction estimate as £10-15,000.

The Sun has it as £40.000.

Obviously a rare and desirable item - but that's a lot of money which ever one is the right figure.

Mark,

I'm always amused at the way these items are reported. For instance, the writer seems quite confidant they were all 'ripped down and binned' (in modern parlance) with just the two left! Isn't it just possible that there might be others which yet haven't come to light? After all, I'm sure many amongst the poorest classes would have wanted to keep one of the many thousand printed as a souvenir, so may not some of those also have survived?

I also have a similar modern copy – or at least I think it's a copy! :?

Bought this as a T-Cloth a number of years ago for a couple of quid ! from the Royal Naval Museum, Portsmouth. makes a great protective cover over one's Computer.
