Nelson & His World

Hi Margaret,

I don't recall reading anything about Nelson being superstitious about sea shanties, though I do recall reading that Nelson encouraged music and dancing when the men were relaxing after duties with their grog. One sailor wrote that 'we were as happy as if we were at Wapping.'

Within the Mediterranean, most superstisions were handed down through that great race that was the Civilization, being the Phoenecians, who founded, Tyre and Sydon and that Port that came under control of Rome, Caesearea.
