Today is the 250th anniversary of the birth of Captain Charles John Moore Mansfield.

We held a party for a few friends this weekend in his honour, and will be raising a glass to him again this evening.

So if you are looking for a reason to open a bottle...

For new members who may not be aware: Tony is a direct descendant of Charles Mansfield who captained HMS Minotaur at Trafalgar.

I am sure we are all proud to be connected by our association here to a Trafalgar captain and will join Tony in honouring his ancestor tonight!

Thanks for reminding us. It must be wonderful for you to have such an illustrious ancestor – or is that sometimes a two-edged Patriotic Fund sword!

I hope you had an enjoyable time, and I imagine you were called upon to say a few words? :wink:
