Hello everyone,
Hope you are all keeping well in these strange, troubled times!
With the spare time that has been thrust upon me I have been reading a freshly released book called ' Nelson's State Funeral 1806, how to bury a national hero' written by Susan Amos & Louis Roeder.
The planned book launch at the Trafalgar Tavern, Greenwich, was cancelled due to the government lockdown. The book release has therefore remained very low key. I am lucky enough to know Both Susan & Louis personally, so received my pre-ordered copy.
It is a fantastic read!
Dr John Sugden's blurb from the back cover perfectly describes the book:
"Is there anything left to say about Lord Nelson?
Surprisingly, there is. Innumerable books have
traced the Admiral's career to his heroic death at
Trafalgar, but here is the first full account of what
happened afterwards. Amos & Roeder's
Admirably illustrated volume, full of fascinating
but forgotten facts about the most lavish
state funeral in modern British history, fills
a genuine gap in our knowledge. This is a
must for Nelson aficionados and anyone who
shares our national love of pageantry and
commemoration." Further details of the book are available by contacting Louis Roeder at:
