Can anyone inform me as to if they have paid their subscription, for 2010 ?

I emailed Des Houghton, the new membership secretary only a few days ago asking if I could renew my subscription on line instead of sending a cheque as I usually do. Apparently, this isn't possible yet, though you can set up a Direct Debit which I intend to do for the future. This year, it has to be a cheque - which I'll write tomorrow. It had slipped my mind, so thanks for the reminder!

Given the P poor attitude of the Nelson Society's attitude to its members the cheque will be in the post on Monday.

I paid my 2010 subscription last October by cheque. I have not received the NS dispatch issue of October 2009, but I guess it will arrive soon. Has any of you received it?

I am afraid the poor attitude towards its members does the NS no good. It is a pity the NS staff is doing so much their best to be out of contact with its members.

Today I received a letter from the Nelson Society, informing me that the Nelson Dispatch of October 2009 and January 2010 will be delayed. This is much appreciated.

So I will eat my words (I think the English expression is, I am sorry if it is not so) about the NS, not being in touch with its members.

Yes, I also received the letter today explaining the situation. I think they are doing their best to get back on track, although I don't know what the problem was, and not surprisingly the Chairman has written the letter since he has had so many enquiries. So it looks as though we might expect the first of the delayed Dispatches later this month.

The AGM Weekend looks interesting!

Still slightly confused here are the 2010 subscriptions with this letter, the Society seems to be in the same fog that surrounded Jack Aubrey at the start of Master and Commander!

Apologies, we seem to be talking about two different issues here. The letter mentioned subscriptions, but only in that some members were considering cancelling them! Mostly is was an explanation as to why the Dispatch has been so late and offering some explanations. Also included was the itinerary for the AGM weekend in Newcastle.

I was merely answering Sylvia's question.
