Nelson is reputed to have learned to sail at Burnham Overy Staithe. It's a lovely spot where the sea and land merge seamlessly. I love the ambiguousness of it. It is not spectacular, but the little fishing boats, the wide skies, and the visiting bird life are a delight.
http://tinyurl.com/3joz7mgDoes anyone know the walk known as the Captain's Walk which I think is near the parsonage? During his period 'on the beach' Nelson used to take the newspapers when they arrived and walk there to read the ship news. It might be fun to retrace his steps.
And yes! Don't miss a meal at the Lord Nelson, formerly the Plough, that Nelson knew well.
