Hello All,

I am on holiday in Norfolk next week in Brancaster Staithe which is just down the road from Nelsons birthplace and was wondering if anyone had any must see things to do/places to visit related to Nelson. I may add in a visit to Hoste's birth place if I can manage it (though I think that is privately owned)

Joss.

hello,

I visited Burnham Thorpe and you must visit Lord Nelson's pub and have lunch, don't forget to have a look at the gift shop outside. Of course you must go to All Saints' church. Just wondering around the village was wonderful

I do want to go back !!! :)

Nelson is reputed to have learned to sail at Burnham Overy Staithe. It's a lovely spot where the sea and land merge seamlessly. I love the ambiguousness of it. It is not spectacular, but the little fishing boats, the wide skies, and the visiting bird life are a delight.

Does anyone know the walk known as the Captain's Walk which I think is near the parsonage? During his period 'on the beach' Nelson used to take the newspapers when they arrived and walk there to read the ship news. It might be fun to retrace his steps.

And yes! Don't miss a meal at the Lord Nelson, formerly the Plough, that Nelson knew well.
