I'm sorry I can't answer your question with regard to the journals of Nelson's Captains, Margaret, but thought I'd take this opportunity of mentioning that there must be many unpublished writings and journals by captains and seamen in various archives. I am currently reading extracts from the Journals of George Robertson who was Master of HMS Dolphin during the journey to Tahiti 1766-67. The editor, Oliver Warner, mentions that many on board kept journals including Wallis, the captain; William Clarke, the first lieutenant, (referred to by Robertson as 'Knowall' or 'Old Growler'); Molyneaux, who was later Master of the Endeavour, and a 'number' of the twelve midshipmen onboard. All of the journals are in the National Archives, with the exception of Molyneaux' which is among the Egmont Papers in the British Library.
