I've been [with less then stellar success] trying to recover info on the NEPEAN cutter and a William Brown, her commander. I'm specifically interested in the first decade of the 1800s. So far I've located 3 vessels with that name - a mail packet, a revenue cruiser and a hired tender, but no evidence of a William Brown, who commanded one of these vessels. If anyone can lead me to a source, or recommend a researcher in the UK who would help, I would greatly appreciate it. I have a sword which was presented by the Postmaster-General to a Commander Wm. Brown of the NEPEAN cutter. So far, the trail stopped cold there.
